Fall festival and market!

With the assistance of Kelley Wampach and the White River Square centre management who organized the very first Fall Festival and Market at White River square shopping centre in White River recently, for the benefit of Pediatric care Africa, and what a fantastic event it was!!

With TJ Mare as MC on the day, things got of to a very early start with a Marshmallow eating competition organized and sponsored by Tea Thyme Cafe, to a model show with models showing clothing from Miladys followed by the models own designer gowns and the talent was absolutely unbelievable. How the judges made a decision must have been a difficult task, as I personally could not choose as every time I think I have a favourite dress, the next one equally as beautiful and stylish appeared on stage. Yondela Sihlobo of Ruby Models made all the models available to show us how it is done and show off their own creations, and what a show it was. Every competition must have a winner and the judges who had the very unenviable task of choosing a winner was Jacques Lombard MD Mrs Mpumalanga, Sfeziwe Mkhabela the current Ms Provincial Mpumalanga 2021 and Ruwellyn Isbell a representative from the Pumas rugby team and Pumas rugby player.

Miss White river square 2021 is Nothando Mtabela, Miss White river square 1st runner up is Thato Mashile and White river square 2nd runner up is Siphosethu Nkosi. Well done to all of you! They received flower bouquets from Salomie at Country flowers and off course the floating crowns for the modelling competition sponsored by our old friend Gerrit from Pick n Pay Family White River.

There were 22 stalls selling everything from beautiful original art, to mini donuts and handbags etc and all the stall fees was in aid of Pediatric care Africa. Liz McQueen a very well-known and beloved painter sold all paintings at only R100-00 per painting on the day, for our benefit raising R2600-00 for Pediatric care Africa on the day. Liz, you are a remarkable lady, thank you very much.

Mopani Pharmacy White River had a very attractive stall and sold raffle tickets and in the process earning R1140-00 for us, absolutely fantastic effort from the folks at Mopani Pharmacy. Thank you!

Mpumalanga Sound Hire supplied the microphones and the sound system with music throughout the day that was proudly sponsored by Wesvaal Numbi Ford White River. A very talented young singer named Liam Jacobs entertained the crowd and can this young man sing and perform! People loved him and he definitely has a very bright singing career ahead of him. Well done Liam.

A gigantic Minnie Mouse was auctioned off and fetched a cool R1500-00 and a gentleman bought it for his wife, just because she asked for it. Awesome!

Our own Pediatric care Africa stall was manned by Frikkie Leonard and Lee-Ann Leonard-Van Zijl who helped out with the punchwall for the kiddies at the festival! Thank you so much for your help!!

To get back to the Marshmallow eating contest, I still cannot believe that I was eaten under the table by a young girl…I mean, to loose to a 7ft 170kg giant of a guy is ok, but to loose to a petit girl with a gentle smile….

I am so traumatized by the Marshmallow eating competition I lost, that I probably forgot to thank everybody who made this day such a great success and collected R8176-80 for us.

Blame it on the Marshmallows..

Lee Melman and Erika Dickinson you can be proud of your effort, thank you very much!!!
