Day 1 —

Early this morning, our 2nd Annual 500km “Donkeys Delivering Dreams” Donkey cart ride set off from the heart of De Rust .

Led by the passionate team from Pediatric Care Africa, this year’s journey carries an even deeper purpose:

🌿 Raising funds for continued medical outreach across the Karoo

🌿 Supporting an aesthetic upgrade to the children’s ward at Oudtshoorn Hospital

Behind every step is a team of remarkable humans — and some very special donkeys: Doc Andre rides the cart, armed with a bucket of treats, storytelling magic, and songs to keep the donkeys’ spirits high; Johan from Dysselsdorp, is our dedicated donkey handler for today; Johan Meyer from De Rust, our donkey-whisperer-extraordinaire is driving the other two donkey teams to the change over spots.

Wilhelm, is keeping watch from the safety vehicle.

Together, they are more than a team — they are a moving reminder of compassion, community, and care.

Through dust, distance, and determination… these donkeys are truly delivering dreams.
