Inter-city ride for a child completed 1086km!!
Our very first Inter-City charity motorbike ride, to collect money for children’s medical care and surgeries, was completed without a hitch and everyone participated is home safe again.
What a experience it was and I can’t wait for next year September to do it again.
Officially I travelled 1086km as was confirmed by Christene Terreblance, and in that short distance, I met the most incredible people and was accompanied all the way by members of Steelwings Lowveld and I will travel with them again anywhere and anytime. Steelwings Lowveld Club President Andre, Kevin, Marcele, Mechelle and Sarel you are the reason this trip was so successful and for that I thank you all and Prez Andre, we salute you for your efforts.
We met a dog with personality called “Kokkerot” in Hartebeespoortdam, a man from the Free state gave us a donation at a filling station, we got offal pie in Middelburg and had rooibos tea in a smoky biker bar.
We were met by Steelwings Pretoria and taken to their clubhouse were we had the best boerewors in the Country and received a very generous and welcome donation from the Steelwings Pretoria MC, which was handed over to us by their club President. To ride with them in a pack through Pretoria was an experience as their marshals did a sterling job getting such a big pack of Harley Davidsons safely through traffic and before long we had a police escort assisting with traffic control as well. Thank you to the Tswane police dog unit for your assistance.
Closer to home, all thanks must go to Kelley and Celeste at White River Square shopping Centre, Gerrit from Pick n Pay Family White River, J&M Security, Joyce, Surika and Thinus le Roux and of course Erika Dickinson and Lee Melman of Pediatric care Africa, who put in so much effort to make this charity bike ride possible.
Capt Potgieter, Joey and Ivan thank you very much for getting us through traffic safely and effortlessly and spending your heritage day, to help and assist us.
Then, last but not least many thanks to Annelize, Gwen and Andrew for making pancakes Bernice from Thyme café, Kirsten of CTIA – Chefs Training & Innovation Academy for supplying 2 awesome chefs to make boerewors rolls and Hendrik from Mpumalanga Sound Hire for the sound and microphone and last but not least TJ Mare for blessing this Intercity ride!
If I missed anyone, please blame Surika and my “slave owner” Joyce…!
