Such generosity!!

We spend Friday evening at the very elegant Apple and Spice Guesthouse in George and we had a delicious dinner with Jake and Annie the owners who just so happen to be a bike owner himself.

Travelling from George on Saturday morning to Port Elizabeth we were accompanied by around 50 bikers in George, some coming from as far as Oudtshoorn to accompany us all the way to Storms river to hand us over to another group of 20 motor bikers who escorted us to Jeffreys bay under a traffic police escort to be met in Jeffreys bay By two Counsellors of the Jeffreys bay council and Mandy Pieters (Chris En Mandy Pieters) who organized a huge reception for us at Xclusive Fitness Jeffreys Bay complete with lunch, a silent auction, a donation box and gift bags to all of us. It was an absolutely awesome reception and experience. Arriving in Port Elizabeth we met and enjoined a braai with members of the PE Rotarians (Port Elizabeth Rotary Club who hosted us for the evening.

Sunday morning in PE and the winds are howling with grey skies we were met by a large group of 911Riders at our Hotel despite the not so perfect weather who rode with us out of town till close to Nanaga where we were met by a large group of motorbikes who escorted us all the way to Port Alfred about 100km further. On our way in Alexandria we stopped to be joined by a full escort of traffic police and fire brigade and by the time we reached Port Alfred we had a escort of around 20 vehicles ranging from Traffic police, Fire brigade vehicles, Police, Security companies and private vehicles. A filling station in Port Alfred hosted us and we filled the whole area with bikes and vehicles only to receive refreshments and a cash donation from the filling station owner and manager.

Still far from our overnight point we were escorted out of town just to meet up with a group of Harley Davidsons who was waiting for us and after a quick coffee escorted us all the way to the front Entrance of the beautiful Hemingway Southern Sun Hotel in East London who kindly sponsored our accommodation.

To round off our very full but unforgettable Sunday and weekend we were hosted by another group of the Rotary Club of East London and we were once again spoiled with excellent food and great company.

The generosity and friendliness of the people we meet on our 2021 “Ride for a child” charity bike ride is absolutely amazing…..
