Donkeys Delivering Dreams; Done and Dusted!!
Why a buggy?
For some children born into a poor family and having Cerebral palsy or other serious physical disability is less than ideal.
In many instances children that can not walk or even sit upright, may be left lying on the floor or on a mattress as soon as he or she gets too heavy for mostly the mom to pick up.
Giving such a child a buggy, changes his or her quality of life dramatically and the quality of life of his family.
Suddenly the severely disabled child can sit up, join the family at the dinner table and accompany his mom to visit the neighbours or go to church as his family can now push him or her around to mention a few life altering improvements.
Our first “Donkeys Delivering Dreams” 500km donkey cart ride to raise funds for buggies was a proof of concept, as we had no idea if riding a donkey cart for approximately 500km was even a possibility.
We succeeded in completing our first 500km donkey cart ride and raised R 45 608-55 and handed over the first buggy to a tiny 3 year old girl with Cerebral palsy, changing her life for ever.
We succeeded ONLY due to the great support we received from so many people and organizations, as without their awesome support, this ride would have stayed a dream and could not have happened and will now become a annual event every April to help disabled children in the Karoo.
A big shout out to our brilliant team, doc Andre, Brahm van Zyl and Wilhelm de Swardt; you are ysters!!!
Thanks to all who made a donation and/or supported us with accommodation or dinner and of course to all the people who greeted doc Andre and the team along the road with loud cheers.
