SABC News and food for entire community!

The SABC news and a reporter from the Daily sun, accompanied us to Magalela informal settlement on the Hazyview road for a food distribution drop to all the few hundred residents living there.

Having a news crew around we had to be on our very best behaviour, with Frikkie Leonard and Pieter Kruger even combing their hair for the occasion, and that is big as Frikkie doesn’t normally comb hair. Even our Mascot Olaf looked neat with his “step out” T shirt on!

We could only do this food distribution to such a large number of people thanks to 100 bags of maize meal donated to us by GB2C and nartjies and toilet paper donated to us by The Covid flight.

And a very welcome vegetable donation by Helen of Helen Lemon Estate Agency supplied the veggies for this huge food drop. Thank you Helen!

The Covid flight, we can not sing your praises enough for the awesome donation received last night. The kids went crazy for the nartjie’s and the ladies for toilet paper. My problem is now, that Olaf got used to flying with you folks in helicopters and he is not not very happy with being driven around in a bakkie anymore…He is one spoilt mascot?

Thanks a lot to GB2C for a very much needed Mealie meal donation. Giving Back 2 our Community (GB2C),was spearheaded by Crossing Centre Nelspruit during the centre’s 16th Birthday late last year.  Several local businesses form part of GB2C including Buco Nelspruit, Caltex/Omar Family, Mica Nelspruit, SuperSpar Crossing, Visagie Group amongst others who made a fantastic donation of 1250 kg maize meal in the form of 100 bags of 12.5kg to us!

Each family living at the Magalela informal settlement received enough food for two weeks consisting of 12.5kg maize meal, frozen chicken, vegetables, grapes, nartjie’s and toilet paper etc etc….

Not a single hungry person at Magalela tonight with enough food to last each family for 14 days.

That is what I call truly awesome…

Our donors are true heroes and we salute you!

If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one!
