Honour and respect!!!
Pediatric care Africa is busy with their 2nd 6967km ride for a child charity ride around South Africa to raise money and awareness for children’s surgeries.
This year we hope to raise enough funds for 70 surgeries for children in South Africa. Approaching Vryburg yesterday from direction Lichtenburg we were accompanied by 16 motorbikes organised by Connie Conradie and Hennie Schleebush who joined us just outside of Lichtenburg at the Blauwbank Silos and who then escorted us all the way to Stella where the Speedhogs MC was waiting for us in numbers.
Arriving at Stella we were welcomed by Shaun Lee Loots the President of the Vryburg Speed Hogs MC and a very special guest Hanna the widow of late Dr Dries Smit who sadly passed away from Covid related complications. Dr Dries rode with us last year and met us at Stella escorting us into Vryburg and afterwards he took us all out to dinner. Such kindness is never forgotten and Dr Dries Smit will always be part of our team riding for children of South Africa that requires medical treatment.
In Pediatric care Africa we have a tradition that if any person who rode with us on our charity bike ride pass away, his/her spouse or motorbike club will receive his ride for a child badge every year we pass through their town.
This year and on this ride we had the great honour to hand over Dr Dries’s ride for a child badge to his wife Hanna.
A biker brother and kindness is never forgotten.
